Learn what the Running Record is and how to use it
Please note: This article is primarily for users with a Coach role and above.
What's included in this article:
The Running Record, pictured below, appears within the left column* of rubrics/forms that are in draft mode. The Running Record allows you to take continuous, time-stamped notes during an observation by typing and clicking enter on your keyboard.
Pro-Tip: You can adjust the size of the side panel, for more ease while note-taking, at the top left-hand side of the observation page. Simply click Toggle Side Panel to toggle between small, large, full, or hidden views.
You can share or hide individual notes by clicking the eye icon to the left of each timestamp. You can also set privacy settings for the entire record by clicking Make All Private or Make All Shared. Private notes are only visible to you, as the observer, as well as others with access to the observee. Obsevees see notes that are shared but do not see anything you left private.
Organizational Tools
@ and # symbols, as you may have already noticed, can be used as organizational tools. See below for our recommended use cases. These symbols can be used to filter your Running Record notes- simply click on your tag at the bottom to haze out any notes that do not contain it. Click Clear Filters to reset your view.
#hashtags
You can add a hashtag filter by using the hashtag "#" in front of any word in your text!
@people
You can add a mention filter by using a "@" in front of any word in your text!
Once the observation has been finalized, you can find these Running Record notes in the Notes tab.

Double Running Record
We recently released a new feature that allows users to add a “double running record” in order to document both students and staff more easily. You will find the Double Running Record in the same place as Running Record in forms/rubrics.
