Learn how to navigate Grow as a user with Teacher permissions.
Please note: this article is primarily for users with a Teacher role and above.
Within Grow, the Teacher role only has access to their account. They can see all of the feedback they have received, including past years' data. Depending on the site settings, they may be able to perform self or peer observations. Teachers have access to the Video Hub and Resource Library. Teacher is the only role that does not have access to Grow reports and dashboards.
For users with teacher permissions only, your Grow homepage will be your teacher profile. Your profile can always be accessed by clicking on either the Grow logo or the Home icon.
The teacher profile typically includes three tabs: Overview, Teaching Timeline, and Details.
Overview
The Overview tab on the teacher profile includes your latest feedback for easy access.
Note: Language and features may differ on your site from what you see here.
Action Steps
Under the Action Steps section, you can view all the Action Steps you have received during the current school year. Toggle between the Active and Mastered tabs to view action steps falling within these categories. If an Action Step has an associated goal, you can click the related goal beneath the Action Step to view said goal. Additionally, if you would like to assign an Action Step to yourself, click on the green plus sign.
To-Do
The To-Do section includes all the To-Dos you have received during the current school year. You can view Active or Done To-Dos by clicking on either tab. If you would like to mark a To-Do as done, click the green check-box button. To-Dos can also be edited by clicking on the orange scripting button (located to the right of the green check box). If you would like to assign a new To-Do to yourself, select the green plus sign.
Goals
Similar to Action Steps, under the Goals section you can view all the goals you have received during the current school year. Toggle between the Active and Mastered tabs to view goals falling within these categories. Additionally, if you would like to assign a goal to yourself, click on the green plus sign.
Latest Observations, Quick Feedback, and Meetings
This section displays the most recent touchpoints that you have received. To open an Observation, Meeting or Quick Feedback, click the blue View button.
Teaching Timeline
The Teaching Timeline offers a chronological look at all the touchpoints you've received during the current school year. From the Teaching Timeline, you can open a Meeting by clicking Meeting, open an Observation by clicking Observation, or view a piece of Quick Feedback by clicking Quick Feedback.
Details
Finally, the Details tab includes helpful information related to your Grow account, such as the email associated with your account, the school you are associated with, and your Primary Observer.
Peer Observations
Peer observations/evaluations are a great tool for teachers, allowing them to learn from the successes and mistakes of others, while also providing valuable insight. Additionally, in an environment where time isn't always plentiful, peer observations are a great way to spread the coaching workload and ensure teachers are getting feedback.
As a Teacher, you will see a Start a Peer Observation option from the Start dropdown. After you click this, select the form and click on the name of another teacher in your school. This will open up the form, which you can fill out and then finalize.
Self Observation
Similarly to Peer Observations, you can complete a Self Observation by selecting Observe from the Start menu, selecting your name as the Observee, and then picking your form.
