Learn about the Competency Form setting in the SchoolMint Grow form builder.
Please note: This article is primarily for users with a System Admin role attempting to build a rubric.
When to Use the Competency Form
Grow partners use the Competency Form feature when they want to collect a cumulative total for their indicator ratings rather than an average.
For example, if a teacher rated with a "3" in indicator 1 and 2, their overall score will be a total of "6" instead of an average of "3".
How to Toggle On the Competency Form Feature
Before building a form with the Competency Form feature enabled, you need to ensure that this feature is turned on in System Settings. Click your username in the upper right corner and select System Settings.
Search for "Competency" in the search box and click the green magnifying glass to prompt the search.
Ensure that "Enable Competency Rubrics" is toggled ON. Then click Save Settings.
Build a Form with the Competency Form Feature Enabled
For general guidance on how to build a form in Grow, use this resource: How do I build a rubric in SchoolMint Grow?
To enable the Competency Form feature, toggle on "Is Competency Form?" in the form builder. You will notice that this pre-selects and greys out how scoring will be averaged on this form.
When adding rows to your strands, you will now have the option to enable "Competency?" for each row. This will change the weight of the row to "Additive" automatically.
After you finish building your form, you can test to see that the score is a total amount instead of an average at the top of the form.
