Learn how system administrators can implement observation types to analyze data.
Please note: this article is primarily for users with a System Admin role.
Observation Type is a field for grouping observations into categories to help you organize data. This can be useful for tracking observations that happen at different points in the year or tracking multiple uses within one form. Observation types are essential tools used to track teacher progression throughout the year. Some examples of ways we've seen Observation Types used are:
- Beginning of Year, Mid Year, and End of Year Evals
- Self-Rating Evals
- Formal and Informal Observations
- Walkthroughs

Where to Find Observation Types
Teacher Timeline
You can find the Observation Type under each observation on the Teaching Timeline. You can also find the Observation Type in the form below the observation name!
Frequency Dashboard
The Frequency Dashboard will allow you to track coaching at specific schools. It will provide admins with a breakdown of how many and what types of touchpoints were received by a teacher. By selecting the arrow next to Observations, the admin will be able to track how many evaluations have been conducted according to their observation type. You can click on each number in any given column to review the details of the observation.
Observation Data Report
The Observation Data Report will allow you to build-your-own observation data export. Here, you are able to select from various fields in order to build your own report surrounding observations.
